What is Smoke Cleansing?
Smoke cleansing is an ancient ritual of using fragrant herbs, woods, or botanicals to gently clear and refresh the energy of a space, object, or person. Rooted in traditions from around the world, it is often used to create a sense of grounding, intention, and renewal.
Smoke cleansing may look like (and is often called) smudging but they are two different practices. Smoke cleansing is the simple act of incorporating healing plants (cinnamon sticks, lavender, or bay leaves are great options) into your home cleansing rituals.
The smudging ritual has roots with Indigenous people in North America. While smoke cleansing has also been around for many generations with ties to many cultures, it is important to know the difference and pay proper respect to sacred and spiritual rituals.
